Science Geek Tattoos
When geeks get tattoos, they tend to be geeky. Imagine that! Geek tattoos are as varied as the geeks themselves, but none so perplexing as the tattoos of science geeks.
Math geeks are rarely the overweight, afraid of sunlight, nerds that people think they are. They’re generally quite in shape, and strangely fond of biking, marathons, and ultimate.

True beauty is on the inside, and whoever did this tattoo knew his trade. I wish the diagrams in my text books were as well done as this. AND it’s correctly positioned. The heart really is in the middle of the chest, it’s just bigger on one side and the largest artery runs to the left, hence why we feel the heart rate on the left.

I love paleontology, but hate skulls. I mean really hate skulls. It was in my vertebrate anatomy class that I learned that if it was larger than a single cell, I wasn’t interested. However, this sketch is wonderful! Great job showing the three dimensional nature of the facets!

While we used to do this in chemistry class, it had never crossed my mind to spell out something in chemical elements in a tattoo. I just need a word with three Us so I can use my favourite element.

And speaking of elements:

Not sure I’d want to get that tattooed, as they do keep adding more.
While the DNA tattoo is fairly common among tattooed scientists, this one is amazing because who it is photographed with:

If you don’t know who the older gentleman is James Watson, known for the discovery of DNA (I won’t get into the arguments around that).
And while I said they’re common, sometimes you see a DNA tattoo that is simply amazing.

The color is amazing, but so is the fact that is shows the nucleosomes!
